Abstract
This chapter aims to clarify the connection between Aristotle’s account of eudaimonia and the contemporary concept of well-being. I argue that some of the difficulties on this matter arise from ambiguities concerning both the concept of eudaimonia and the concept of well-being. An improved understanding of these concepts will put us in a better position to appreciate the strengths of Aristotle’s account and why it still mattters as a significant theory of well-being.
