About
Professor Forestal’s research and teaching interests are in the area of political theory. Her research focuses on questions of social media platform design and governance, digital culture, and democratic theory. She has published a book, Designing for Democracy: How to Build Community in Digital Environments (Oxford, 2022), on the role of design in building more democratic social media platforms, and her work has appeared in outlets like the American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, Hypatia, and The Washington Post.
